Heat Loss Review
Belleville Insulation – professional contractors serving the Bay of Quinte region
Heat loss inspections
Because of the ever-increasing cost of energy, home heating and cooling efficiency are major priorities for home-owners.
That’s why Belleville Insulation can arrange thermal testing heat loss inspections. This non-invasive inspection is performed using infrared thermography to find areas in a building that allow air flow through them. This, in turn, allows heat from the facility to seep out and be seen on infrared cameras.
The heat loss review helps to determine the amount of heat energy you’ve lost over a period of time. If you are finding that the house you live in feels colder than it should in the winter and hotter during the summer, there is most likely a problem with the insulation present in your home.
We are able to identify heat loss areas as well as the likely cause of the problem. Afterwards, we will work with you or your commercial building’s maintenance personnel to best determine what repairs should be made.
- We can arrange for a thermographic scan if deemed necessary.
- Walls usually have varying amounts of insulation because they have different surface areas or they are different thicknesses.
- Thermographic scans show the temperature contrasts between warm and cool air.
- The scanned images reveal heat losses and air leakage through the building’s exterior.
- The scans help energy assessors determine if a building needs insulation and where in the building it could be placed. The thermographic inspection is a simple and easy way to detect any faults in the building’s insulation.
Mitigating heat loss areas
After the primary areas of heat loss have been identified, Belleville Insulation will recommend the most cost effective methods for sealing heat or cooling loss. Foam insulation is one method used to prevent heat loss. Another method is to apply a reflective coating to existing insulation. Upgrading the fibreglass batts in the attic or adding blown insulation may also offer a solution. Sealing windows and doors may also be required and provide a low cost way to mitigate heat loss.
Cost savings
We have saved our client’s thousands of dollars in premature equipment failure, prevented costly down-time, and helped avoid safety hazards. Using our services will improve facility’s performance, increase operational lifetime and reduce repair costs for years to come.
